Souvenir

Souvenir is a word we use in the English language to describe an item purchased while on vacation, yet when translated from its French meaning it is "to remember".  When traveling I always enjoy finding a special souvenir, or remembrance of the places that I have had the good fortune to have visited.  Often I bring back little treasures for my family and thus have begun to sew a tapestry of memories that drapes my home.  Over a stairwell hangs silk pajama's from a trip to Asia.  I love this because it displays a mothers arms outstretched and receiving her child and though are not there, family and love is present...

The child's pajamas and the framed ink on parchment are from the Behn Tan market in Vietnam, the robe was find from the narrow streets in Chinatown. What souvenir is special to you?
